6 days to go!! Here's some info about Gloucester and Cape Ann

For those of you who don't know a lot about Cape Ann, here's some info about the area you're going to be spending the weekend in.

Where is Cape Ann?

Founded in 1623, Cape Ann (and Gloucester in particular) has everything from wonderful beaches, rocky cliffs, boulder-driven landscapes, haunted woods, and salty locals. It is considered by many to be one of the last remaining active fishing communities in the United States. Cape Ann is named after a 17th century Danish Lady.

Wait, did you say haunted woods?
Yes, and I might be serious, too. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogtown,_Massachusetts

Gloucester is the commercial and industrial city-state center of Cape Ann. It is split in two by the Annisquam river. The locals consider the eastern side of the river "The Island," and you will find locals who claim to have never ventured across to the mainland. Gloucester is fairly famous outside of its maritime traditions - the film The Perfect Storm was based on real events that happened there. You can even visit the bar from the film - The Crows Nest

Finally, Gloucester is actually one of four parts of Cape Ann. The other communities that make up the cape are Essex, Rockport, and Manchester-by-the-Sea. The last one was named like that so people wouldn't confuse it with Manchester New Hampshire. Cape Ann is accessible by car, via Rt 128 North, or by the Commuter Rail. Manchester-by-the-Sea, Rockport and Gloucester all have their own stops.
